All things come to a good end
I succeeded which means more long hours ahead of us and I’m as giddy as a schoolgirl.
ON REPEAT: Triptides - Going Under
Caturday
Back from Stockholm and dead tired. I wouldn’t want to sleep anywhere else but on people’s floors and couches while travelling but mix bad sleeping habits and slightly uncomfortable accommodation and you’ve got one exhausted girl who will spend at least one night staring at the ceiling. We received our college results during our trip but I didn’t want it to ruin the fun so now I’m home with an unread mail and a question burning on many lips. First thing, read the mail. Next up on the list, decide what the future will bring depending on the results. For an ordinary Saturday I’m extraordinarly tired and nervous. What I’d give to be Sookie on any given Saturday: let others work while drowsing the hours away.
ON REPEAT: Jack Ladder - Cold Feet
The two of us

Reverting to my past …

… while holding onto grandmother’s present
In an endless afternoon
We were already on our way to the seaside when they called us up to inform us that Villagers had cancelled their show. So we drank champagne, went for an overpriced go-cart ride and ate too much ice cream to compensate for the lack of musical bliss.
ON REPEAT: Villagers - Pieces
I never get a hold of you
Estranging how sometimes we can’t get a notion of time.
What’s left of being in my twenties is the aversion of growing up.
ON REPEAT: Yellow Ostrich - Whale
Vienna
Having to take 200 object photographs every week for an assignment is stepping out of one comfort zone and into another, because those objects never mind being in the picture, pose exactly the way I want it and don’t scream when I drastically alter their appearance. And object photography can be lifted out of the commercial (and boring) sphere as demonstrated by Anne Collier’s Problems, Edmund Clark‘s Still Life Killing Time and Ishiuchi Miyako’s Hiroshima.
ON REPEAT: Yukon Blonde - Brides Song
A day at the museum

Between the Greek vases and the Egyptian art work, we talk about throwing contemporary parties.
ON REPEAT: Family of the Year - Let's Go Down
Te deseo
A representation of his beliefs. A signature of his Spanish roots.
ON REPEAT: Crystal Fighters - Champion Sound
Go ask for Joy Division
Maarten uploaded his version of this picture earlier today on his blog. He recently got featured on Hello, I’m Analog (bookmark them as a source of inspiration) and I truly enjoy all of his blogposts. You will too.
Maarten, if you’re reading this: make a Flickr account, you’d be a hit on it. And learn to credit buddy.
ON REPEAT: Hungry Kids of Hungary - You Ain't Always There
Those are the gifts
“That’s what she taught me. Be the first. That’s what I thought at least, I didn’t want it to happen again. And like that I sensed some control.”
ON REPEAT: Goldheart Assembly - Hope Hung High
Trust me, it’s a lust for life
“Wandered upon this blog. Some very nice pictures, but whoever is writing the captions: downer.”
And he’s right. When pen meets paper those less enraptured thoughts jump the queue. But if anything, I’m only ever resigning myself. Even when I look away from the pictures of the sweethearts and stare just a second too long at all the letters of heartbreak. Still mere reflections. It’s a lust for life. In disguise.

I can’t apologize for a statement however. It’s my party and I cry if I want too. But you’re more than welcome if you’d still want to join. People with an opinion are always high on the guestlist.
ON REPEAT: Stephen Frost - The Naked and the Famous
PS: I’m really excited about Girls’ mini-album ‘Broken Dreams Club’ (release date: the 22nd of November), and the free mp3 here. Positive emotion alert!
It’s all gonna break
Everything means so little and weighs so much.
Embedding pictures from Flickr vs uploading through WordPress, the difference is incredible. It’s almost as spectacular as was suddenly seeing their true faces. It’s almost as overwhelming as “the space around me where my soul can breathe”.
ON REPEAT: Kings of Leon - Pyro
C’était au temps où Bruxelles chantait
Brussels,
Give me what the others couldn’t. Be a stepping stone.
Give away your secrets day by day – like that day when we discovered the stables of Napoleon at the back of an antique shop.
Reveal more of those winter nights that proved a lot warmer than the barometer had said. As if we were on holiday.
I’ll wave away your scent of piss and dirt, I’ll see the shades in the grey and I’ll try not to run into your darker side at night.
I know that excitement never comes without a risk.
So I’m not asking you to lose your authenticity, just be kind to me.
Yours truly.
Installation de Feu
On Friday we had dinner in Bruges, near the city hall where Charlotte & Bernard would get married the next day. We were driving back to the bed&breakfast to call it a night when we made a sudden stop because “the Minnewater‘s on fire!”.
Fiery art installation by the French Compagnie Carabosse .
The wedding was beautiful as was the bride. It was a completely new and fun experience for me; I’m more accustomed to funerals than weddings. Unfortunately I screwed up my task to shoot the evening party but I sincerely hope that there will never be an opportunity for a second chance. I wish them all the love and courage to defy the statistics. I have faith they will.
ON REPEAT: Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You?
